Today I figured I would talk a little about the second biggest purchase a person makes in their life, buying a car. It can be a somewhat stressful experience as most people are fully aware. I have a lot of experience in this field as I was a sales representative with Oregan’s Toyota in Dartmouth for 3 and a half years.
I am going to give you a few tips to help you when you buy your next car.
1) Buy from a reputable dealer. I have nothing bad to say about Oregan’s. They treated me very well there and I know from experience if you have a problem with your car, they will look after you. When I got out of the business and into Real Estate and needed a car, I went to Oregan’s and have been very happy with the service ever since. Make sure you do your homework on where you are going to buy your car. Not all car dealers are the same.
2) When you are going to buy, go at the end of the month. Dealerships get bonuses based on volume so at the end of the month if they are close to their numbers it makes sense for them to sell a car for zero profit to make their target for the month.
3) Shop around. Never buy at the first place. Many automakers have at least 2 dealerships of the same brand in a big city. Take your price at one and I guarantee you the next dealership will beat it to get your business.
These are 3 tips that I think will help you when purchasing your next car. If you would like more advice on this, give me a call I would be happy to help you out. Next week I will be looking at the numbers in Bedford/Hammonds Plains. The Hammonds Plains area has been taking a hit in the market as of late so it will be interesting to see how the numbers come out.
