My Ten Favorite Halifax Restaurants

by Andrew on August 8, 2008

Ahh Friday again.  I love the weekend.  Today’s Halifax Real Estate Blog Friday Random post is My Favourite Restaurants to eat in Halifax.  Whether I am looking for fine dining or just wanting a good burger these restaurants rank high in my books and if you try them I think you will find they are quite good.  So without further ado here are my 10 favs in no particular order;

Morris East, Morris St, Halifax.  This restaurant is a hidden gem in the heart of Halifax.  Located on Morris St this is one of my favourites.  I love the daily dip specials and the wood fried organic Pizza’s are the best I have ever had.  The prices are not bad either.  The last couple of times there I had to wait for a seat as they do not have much seating.  This place only gets busier each day as the buzz gets out there.

Hamanchi Steak House.  Halifax Waterfront.  I have only eaten here once but it was one of my most enjoyable eating experiences I had.  It is teppanyaki so the food is cooked right in front of you by the chef.  The guy was amazing and made are experience so enjoyable.  I will definitely be going back real soon.

Darrells, Fenwick St, Halifax.  Great wraps, love the Cajun chicken burger and the Darrell’s fries are awesome.  I eat here quite a lot as I used to live very close by.  Great prices and cool atmosphere.

Minato’s, Queen St, Halifax.  I love warm rice on my maki rolls.  This sushi restaurant never disappoints.  Always fresh and tasty.  Try the veg dragon roll.  It is awesome.

Mic Mac Tavern, Waverley Rd, Dartmouth.  I love this place, some would say, best steaks in town.  I usually get the club or fish and chips.  I have never left there disappointed or not full.  Highly recommend this place especially if you’re on a budget.  You can’t beat the prices

Cha Bai Thai, Queen St, Halifax.  One of the newest Thai Restaurants in the city.  I love their spicy chicken dish.

Jane’s on the Common, Robie St, Halifax.  My Moms favourite.  Every time she is up from Newfoundland we have to go here.  Great atmosphere, tables are a little close together but you don’t really notice once you sit down.  The food is always great.

It’s All Greek to Me,  Quinpool Rd, Halifax.  Only been here once but I need to go back soon.  I loved this place.  The night we were there it was extremely busy but our service was top notch and the food was great

Ko Doraku, Spring Garden Mall, Spring Garden Rd.  My personal favourite sushi place in the city.  It is only opened for lunch but they have a restaurant on Dresden row that is opened for dinner.   They have weekly lunch specials for around 8 bucks; it is a great deal, fills you up and tastes great.

The Wooden Monkey, Argyle St, Halifax.  Great organic food served here.  I have never had anything off the menu that I did not thoroughly enjoy.  There is something to be said for knowing you are eating organic food.

So that is it my 10 favourite restaurants in Halifax.  Check these places out if you are looking for a good meal.  There is something there for everyone.  From lunch to dinner, Canadian, Japanese, Greek or Thai this is my list and my opinion.  If you have a recommendation of a restaurant you think I should try send me a message.  Next week I will be looking at the Dartmouth Real Estate market.  In the meantime if you are looking to buy or sell Halifax Real Estate contact me.
